If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join the founding team of Nuneaton’s new secondary school as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant. You will work closely with our SENDCO and teachers to provide excellent support for students with special educational needs.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the SEND Coordinator and relevant teachers, you will address the needs of students with additional needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum inside and outside the classroom. Your role will significantly impact students' well-being by supporting pupils with personal and special needs and contributing to assessments of their progress.
You will not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may guide or demonstrate tasks to new staff, work experience students, or trainees. Your role involves handling small amounts of cash, processing cheques and invoices, and managing physical resources, including preparing teaching materials and maintaining accurate records.
Curriculum Support
* Assist in curriculum planning, evaluation, and implementation.
* Support lesson delivery and interact with teachers and pupils.
* Implement learning activities, adapting as needed based on pupil responses.
* Use ICT to enhance learning and develop pupils’ independence with technology.
* Support individual or group work, reinforcing key concepts and keeping pupils engaged.
* Help develop communication skills and promote inclusion and positive interactions.
* Assist in personal, social, and emotional development, and support pupils’ self-esteem.
* Create and review targets on pupil passports.
* Use specialist skills to provide support in specific areas.
* Encourage positive behaviour and report uncharacteristic patterns.
* Supervise pupils during trips and social times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
* Support the use of specialist equipment following training.
* Monitor and report on pupil achievements, contribute to assessments, and attend review meetings.
* Assist with behaviour management strategies and the day-to-day management of the learning environment.
* Complete administrative tasks such as producing worksheets and displays.
* Liaise with parents, carers, and professional staff, sharing relevant information.
