Procurement and Distribution - Lead Pharmacy Technician
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our expanding pharmacy team, providing procurement expertise to our newly insourced pharmacy dispensary.
We welcome applications from GPhC registered technicians with previous procurement and distribution experience within hospital pharmacy.
The role is based at Goodmayes Hospital, Barley Lane, Ilford.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the Pharmacy Procurement and Distribution Service, ensuring high-quality service provision, effective risk management, clinical governance, and adherence to relevant legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Implement and review contracts, develop methods to increase savings, and ensure value for money.
* Manage medicine shortages in collaboration with senior pharmacists to ensure optimal product availability and reduce clinical risks.
* Operate robust systems to minimize financial risk to the trust.
* Purchase from reputable suppliers, identify unlicensed products for Quality Control to minimize clinical risk.
* Develop and oversee medicines procurement, storage, and distribution processes, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices.
* Manage the medicines budget, providing financial information and expenditure reports.
* Support the Pharmacy Operations & Supply Chain Manager and Deputy Chief Pharmacist in achieving strategic objectives and developing pharmacy services.
* Provide leadership within the department to promote the trust's core values in daily practice.
Additional Information
Starting with NELFT
All new starters will join on the first Monday of each month, undergoing a comprehensive induction up to two weeks, including mandatory and systems training, equipment allocation, and meetings with the executive team and senior managers. Inductions are held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This role is subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt unless they are currently partway through a probation or are bank staff.
High Cost Area Supplement
This position attracts a 15% supplement of the basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and a maximum of £5,735.
