CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full‑time

DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations, BBC Radio Norfolk

LOCATION: The Forum, Norwich

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 - £46,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

BBC Extend

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. To apply for this role you should identify as deaf, disabled or neurodivergent and must meet either the definition of disability in the Equality Act (2010), or the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) if applying in Northern Ireland. Purpose of the Role

Do you love the live radio environment, working on a daily programme and can’t wait to share your creative ideas? We’re looking for a programme producer to work on our Daytime programme on BBC Radio Norfolk.


Why Join the Team

* You’ll work as part of our Audio Team mainly in a live studio environment coming up with and implementing great audio content. You'll need a real passion for live radio and be very comfortable directing a presenter and working alongside another journalist to work to the programme brief and output the programme. You need to have a load of creative ideas and creative treatments to make the audio stand out on air.
* You'll have an eye for detail when it comes to script writing and know what’s ear‑catching.
* You'll have sound editorial judgement both on and off air, have a good knowledge of the BBC’s editorial guidelines, a thorough grasp of impartiality as it applies to our output, and sound understanding of broadcast law.
* You’ll be able to draw on a wide range of sources for story ideas and you’ll deliver original stories which surprise and engage listeners in creative ways.
* You'll be comfortable with day‑to‑day and breaking news and ensure that the content is what the audience is talking about.
* You’ll have the great people skills needed to collaborate with colleagues across our local platforms and be a strong team player both in Daytimes and the wider station. You'll know what our audience reacts and responds to, what interests them and what they’re talking about.
* You'll be confident in holding to account moments, getting down to the nitty‑gritty of a story and then moving the conversation on to a lighter topic.
* You'll be comfortable handling and producing a presenter to get the best out of them and be open to feedback.

* Pre, on air and post‑production of the Daytime programme.
* Script writing
* Researching and briefing guests
* Creating week‑long strands, long‑term campaigns and creative outside broadcasts
* On air editorial guidance and presenter direction

* Experienced in outside broadcasts
* Operation of technical equipment
* On air presentation
