Automation Engineer

About the Opportunity
Were partnering with our client, a well-established job shop in the machine and automation industry in Lancaster, WI, to hire an experienced Automation Engineer. This is a newly created role due to company growth, and it offers the chance to design, build, and install automation equipment that solves real-world manufacturing challenges across industries.
This role is perfect for someone who is a mid-to senior level engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys full project ownership, and wants to be hands-on from concept through installation. You'll be a key contributor to a company that designs, machines, assembles, wires, programs, and installsall in-houseserving a mix of well-known, high-volume manufacturers in industries such as power tools, motorcycles, food production, consumer goods, packaging, electronics, and industrial equipment, and more.
Key Responsibilities
* Design custom automation equipment using Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar platforms
* Create print packages and bills of materials
* Order components and raw materials
* Oversee machining, assembly, wiring, programming, and installation
* Collaborate with machinists, electricians, and technicians
* Ensure on-time delivery and product quality
* Communicate clearly with vendors, customers, and team members
What You Bring
* 3+ years of experience in automation equipment design or related engineering role
* Project management experience
* Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks (, not required)
* Strong attention to detail and time management
* Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and keep projects moving forward under pressure
* Excellent communication skills across teams and with clients
Requirements
* Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Associates considered with experience)
* Valid drivers license
* Ability to pass random drug testing
* Full-time, on-site availability (this role is not remote)
