What You'll Do
- Software Development: Develop, test, and debug software solutions, leading on good coding practices.
- Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance on complex projects, ensuring alignment with strategy, technology standards, and best practices.
- Architecture and Design: Lead the design of scalable software solutions or third‑party integrations, partnering with Architecture.
- Code Review: Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to technical standards, maintainability, automated testing, and high‑quality code, fostering continuous improvement.
- Collaboration: Work with key business stakeholders, product managers, and engineers to craft effective technical solutions.
- Mentorship: Coach engineers at all levels, sharing knowledge to help them grow.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure systems are monitored with good alerting and tooling for incident response; feed learnings back into development.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to improve operations and customer service.
Who You Are
- Proven track record in developing high‑performing, robust backend systems and integrations, focusing on optimisation and scalability.
- Deep understanding of software engineering principles, patterns, and practices, applied to maintainable and adaptable code.
- Good understanding of automated testing practices and tooling across unit, integration, and system levels for back‑end and front‑end technologies.
- Technical versatility and proficiency in relevant programming languages (Java, PL/SQL, JavaScript) and tools (Git, CI/CD pipelines).
- Expertise in designing scalable applications on cloud infrastructure, focusing on performance and security.
- Clear communicator conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Mentorship mindset with a genuine desire to share knowledge and empower others.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of the retail domain, particularly around product lifecycle, merchandise, and sales planning (interest, not essential).
