The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) mission is to serve the public interest and support UK economic growth by upholding high standards of corporate governance, corporate reporting, audit and actuarial work. We are the UK Competent Authority for audit, the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes reader, and we set UK standards for accounting, auditing and actuarial work while monitoring and taking action to promote the quality of corporate reporting and operating independent enforcement arrangements for accountants and actuaries.
Responsibilities
* Develop technical actuarial standards and pension disclosures in the UK.
* Assess the effectiveness of the technical actuarial standards through reviews of actuarial work.
* Provide actuarial expertise to the wider FRC, including in relation to disciplinary cases and oversight of the IFoA and actuarial aspects of audit quality review inspections.
* Possess strategic knowledge of developments and issues affecting the life insurance sector.
* Maintain externally acknowledged technical expertise and engage credibly with senior actuarial practitioners and other senior stakeholders.
* Communicate effectively, including strong presentation skills and experience speaking to challenging audiences.
* Analyse large amounts of information to identify key points.
* Understand standards and guidance for IFoA members, including CPD and disciplinary regimes.
* Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas on cross‑unit projects.
* Own and deliver projects on time and to high quality standards.
* Work collaboratively in a team environment or independently when required.
Qualifications
* Fellow of the International Federation of Actuaries (IFoA).
* Significant post‑qualification experience, including regulation, supervision or research, and/or former practitioner experience.
* Senior level experience in consulting, management or regulatory roles.
* Deep technical knowledge of the life insurance sector.
* Knowledge of pensions products or prior experience in the pensions industry.
* Health insurance knowledge desirable but not essential.
