We are looking for a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our General Surgery theatre scrub team within the elective theatre department at Hexham General Hospital. This post may also be required to support our emergency stream at the Northumbria Hospital on a weekend and out of hours rota.
Previous theatre experience would be an advantage, however a comprehensive training package is in place for newly qualified staff, or those new to the theatre environment.
The successful candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic and committed to delivering safe, high quality care.

Delivering excellent standards of care and providing patient support throughout the peri-operative phase, advocating on behalf of the dependent patient. Undertaking the scrubbed and circulating role, ensuring safe environment and practice is maintained. Working with, and supporting other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Preparation and monitoring of the environment of care, and equipment. Supervising junior colleagues, unregistered staff and students.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care under the direction of the senior nurse/SODP
To assist in the provision of nursing care and maintain high clinical standards
To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC/HCPC Code of Professional Conduct
Develop over time and contribute to the management of a clinical area and take charge in the absence of Senior Nurse/ODP
To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates teamworking and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
