ROLE SUMMARY
As a Lead Platform Engineer, you will spearhead the design,development, and evolution of ourcore platform technologies, ensuring our engineering teams are empowered to deliver exceptionalproducts. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to platform engineers, championbest practices, andhelpset the strategic direction for our platform initiatives. Collaborating closelywith cross-functional stakeholders, you will drive the adoption of modern engineering principles,foster a culture of innovation, and ensure the robustness, scalability, and securityof ourfoundational platforms. This role demands a blend of hands-on technical expertise and leadershipto shape a platform that is both reliable and forward-thinking.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will beengineeringand maintainingfit-for-purpose environments and pipelinesaddressingthe needs ofour product development organisation as well as those of our customers.We treat our platform just like aproduct, it has a backlog, customers, requirementsand therefore yourwork will coverbothlong-termprojectwork, and ongoing BAU support.
To achieve this, you will:
1.Define standards, build internal tooling, SDKs& frameworks, share processes and builddocumentation.
2.Lead the architecture and continuous improvement of our foundational AWS platform, pipelines,and developer portal with Backstage.
3.Mentor and guide platform engineers, fostering skill development through code reviews, pairprogramming, and knowledge sharing.
4.Collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to understand requirements, setpriorities, and deliver platform capabilities that elevate developer experience and operationalexcellence.
5.Define and uphold best practices in platform engineering, including infrastructure as code, CI/CDautomation, observability, and security standards.
6.Drive the vision and roadmap for platform engineering, championing new technologies, tools, andprocesses that enhance scalability, resilience, and efficiency.
7.Act as an ambassador for platform engineering both internally and externally, sharing insightsthrough documentation, presentations, and technical forums.
8.Proactively identify, assess, and resolve technical challenges, ensuring the platform remains robust,secure, and cost-effective.
9.Promote a culture of collaboration, transparency, and customer-centricity within the team andacross the engineering organisation.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
•Automation at the heart of everything you do,scripting languages a must,
•Proven track recordofoperating,deployingand optimisingcloudinfrastructure(ideally AWS),
•Extensive productionexperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terrafrom / CDK),
•Expertise in runningKubernetes, HELM, ArgoCDat enterprise scale,
•Demonstratable experience working with containerisedapps (EKS,Docker, ECS),
•Excellent knowledgeof monitoring and observability best practices (We useDataDog, CloudWatch),
•Able to deliver codesolutions that are clean, tested, performant, scalable, secure and follow SOLIDprinciples.
SOFT SKILLS:

•Ability to build strong relationships with wide range of internal/external stakeholders (technical and
non-technical), and to influence senior stakeholders to reach consensus to drive change,
