RSR is recruiting for an experienced Investigation Support Officer for a full‑time, long‑term contract with a Police Force based in either Colchester or Chelmsford, Essex. The role pays £15.08 per hour (PAYE).
Main purpose of the role
Undertake and assist in investigations, taking on key roles such as researching, gathering and obtaining evidence, recording intelligence, liaising with Children Social Care, undertaking joint investigative actions with statutory partners, and attending child protection case conferences by a variety of means.
Main responsibilities
* Interview witnesses and victims of crime, taking high‑quality accurate statements for inclusion in case files and assessing the veracity and reliability of witnesses in court.
* Co‑ordinate and manage the seizure and viewing of CCTV, analyse information, and record elements in comprehensive reports of evidential and intelligence value; conduct house‑to‑house enquiries to support investigations and provide evidence in person at court as required.
* Support and liaise with victims and witnesses, providing information and updates on case progress, signposting them to the appropriate services to ensure they receive appropriate support.
* Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and force policy, e.g. criminal law, PACE, CPIA and RIPA, to ensure investigations and documentation are of the highest standard.
Experience
* Full clean UK driving licence – required due to travel needs.
* ABE (Achieving Best Evidence) training.
* Qualifications: PIP2 and SOTO (Sexual Offence Trained Officer).
* Recent experience safeguarding vulnerable persons to undertake such actions during investigations.
* Recent experience of criminal investigations, conducting interviews and taking statements with adults and children.
