We have a goal to ensure every student makes outstanding progress throughout their time at our academies, regardless of their individual challenges or starting point on entry. To help achieve this goal we are recruiting for an inspiring and proactive Education Welfare Officer based from our Mayfield academy to champion student attendance and engagement across our three secondary schools (Lords Hill, Sholing and Mayfield). This role will play a pivotal part in supporting students and families to overcome barriers to regular school attendance. The successful candidate will be given the unique opportunity to really understand student/family circumstances, make an incredibly positive impact and contribute to the success of our goal. What you will be responsible for: A full job description is attached but in summary you’ll work closely with students, families, and academy teams to improve school attendance and reduce persistent absence. This includes but is not limited to: Leading targeted casework Home visits Analysing patterns to provide recommendations Monitoring the success of interventions Working with external agencies You’ll also support safeguarding procedures and contribute to legal processes where needed, ensuring accurate records are maintained throughout. What you will bring: Dedication and empathy Creative and innovative thinking Experience working with children and families in an educational or welfare setting Knowledge and understanding of social, cultural, and family issues Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills Sound understanding of attendance legislation and safeguarding practices A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people If we have piqued your interest and you would like to know more we'd love to hear from you! This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
