We have an opportunity for a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Diabetes Team at North Middlesex University Hospital.
Role Overview
The Diabetes Specialist Nurse role is essential for working in partnership with both inpatient and outpatient services to ensure a high-quality, needs-led service for diabetic patients treated within NMUH.
The post holder will provide a high standard of diabetes specialist intervention and education across a diverse and multicultural population.
This role involves collaborating with service users, healthcare providers, and professionals to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate service developments and diabetes interventions based on current evidence-based guidelines and policies, responding to local needs, Trust strategic objectives, government initiatives, and national policies.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of managing both outpatient and inpatient diabetes care, working collaboratively to ensure all patients are reviewed within necessary timeframes and receive outstanding care.

Responsibilities
1. Ensure patient-centered care, achieving trust and national standards for quality, safety, and patient experience.
2. Manage a caseload of diabetes patients with support from Clinical Nurse Specialists, Lead Nurse, and specialty consultants and registrars.
3. Run nurse-led clinics independently with clinical guidance as needed.
4. Provide education and advice to patients on treatment options.
5. Act as a clinical expert role model in nursing care for diabetes.
6. Develop advanced nursing practice in diabetes, aware of personal and professional limitations.
7. Assist with cross-cover of Diabetes Specialist Nurses within own clinical competence.
