Let’s take it on!
Reporting to the Senior Transport Planner, you will be part of a small team responsible for ensuring that all business requirements for deliveries are booked and matched to Transport operational requirements of LGVs, vans, and drivers on a daily basis. Your responsibilities include allocating drivers to deliveries & routes, managing rotas, requests, and queries. You will oversee the trunking plan across the UK and Ireland and the allocation of agency and core drivers. Daily checks will be required to ensure route/driver plans are correct to maintain smooth operations and meet Next’s service delivery levels. Transport Planners at NEXT also handle peak & sale planning and undertake various projects to improve the Transport department and the wider business. You will produce reports as needed and analyze data trends.
About you
The successful candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels within the business, both in the UK and internationally.
Experience in transport, logistics, or supply chain management, and knowledge of Road Transport Directive (RTD) and Working Time Directive (WTD) would be advantageous but are not essential. You might currently be in a Transport Administration role seeking the next step, or a recent graduate in Transport or Logistics ready to start your career. You should be PC literate, especially in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, with data entry experience being beneficial. Organisation skills and a keen eye for detail are essential, as the role requires accurate data matching within systems.
