Cambridge Regional College is looking for an inspirational, forward‑thinking leader to drive excellence, innovation and growth across our Construction and Building Services provision. This is a role for someone who thrives on developing people, shaping curriculum, and ensuring students leave us skilled, confident and ready for the world of work. You’ll take strategic ownership of a diverse, ambitious department—setting the vision, raising standards, and ensuring every student and every member of staff has the opportunity to excel. Your leadership will directly influence curriculum design, teaching quality, student experience, industry engagement and departmental performance. What you’ll be responsible for: Curriculum and delivery • Shaping a future‑focused curriculum that responds to labour market needs, employer expectations and LEP priorities • Driving innovation in teaching, learning and assessment to inspire students and improve outcomes year on year • Leading continuous improvement through observation, coaching, training and robust quality assurance • Managing departmental KPIs, business planning, forecasting and performance monitoring • Building strong industry links to enrich curriculum content and expand work experience opportunities • Promoting a culture of ambition, high performance and professional pride across the team Students • Ensuring every learner receives an outstanding experience, from enrolment to progression • Overseeing effective study programmes, English and Maths compliance, and regular progress reviews • Responding to student voice and ensuring concerns are addressed quickly and constructively • Coordinating meaningful work experience and enterprise opportunities • Leading on student discipline and pastoral expectations within the department Staff • Being a visible, proactive and supportive line manager • Recruiting, inducting and developing staff to meet departmental and strategic needs • Managing performance with clarity, fairness and accountability • Ensuring all staff maintain industry currency and engage in ongoing professional development • Creating a collaborative, communicative team culture with regular meetings and shared goals What we’re looking for: • Someone motivational, strategic and student‑centred • Confident in driving quality and performance • Skilled at building strong teams and strong industry partnerships • Passionate about vocational education and its power to change lives • Organised, data‑literate and committed to continual improvement Cambridge Regional College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
