SEMH Teacher - West Cornwall
Location: West Cornwall (including areas such as Penzance, Camborne, and Helston)
Position Type: Full-time (Part-time considered)
Start Date: September 2025 or ASAP
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience
Are you a committed and compassionate teacher with experience supporting young people facing barriers to education? We are currently working with a number of specialist and alternative provision settings in West Cornwall seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teacher to join their teams.
You will play a crucial role in delivering a high-quality, accessible curriculum to students with a wide range of needs, helping to re-engage them with education in a safe, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to SEMH needs
Foster a positive, structured classroom environment built on trust and consistency
Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists and external professionals
Track and report progress, adapting teaching to individual learning plans
Promote emotional literacy and resilience alongside academic development
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
Experience working with young people with SEMH needs (in mainstream, AP, or SEN settings)
Strong behaviour management and trauma-informed practice
Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learners
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
