Maths and English Tutor – Ruislip
Explore Learning offers a role for experienced tutors to deliver personalised lessons in Maths and English to children aged 4–16, focusing on the national curriculum, entrance exams and GCSE preparation.
Location & Contract
On‑site at our Ruislip centre. Permanent part‑time contract, minimum 6 hours a week over at least two weekdays. Shift options: Tuesday 3:30‑4pm, Wednesday 3:30‑4pm, Thursday 3:30‑4pm, Friday 3:30‑4pm, Saturday morning/afternoon.
Responsibilities
* Deliver tailored lessons using the Compass platform, facilitating learning through questioning, scaffolding and stretching.
* Build a positive, safe learning environment, maintaining a 16:1 student‑tutor ratio.
* Support students across the national curriculum, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.
* Use positive behaviour management strategies to keep sessions engaging.
* Maintain accurate records and progress reports.
* Collaborate with central staff to plan and evaluate lessons.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Age 16 or over with right to work in the UK.
* Achieved a grade 6 or above in Maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent; predicted grades accepted if released within 3 months).
* Experience delivering small‑group tutoring (up to 16 pupils).
* Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
* Commitment to building long‑term relationships with students.
* Provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK; no sponsorship offered.
* Correct employment history with documented gaps; references taken directly from referees.
* Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory reference required.
* Role exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; disclosures required in line with DBS.
Pay & Progression
* Base hourly rate: under 18 £840, 18‑20 £10.90, 21+ £12.75.
* Additional £0.50 per hour if working inside the M25.
* Annual progression based on hours tutored.
