An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bridges Manager to join a busy client in South Yorkshire.
Main Duties of the Bridges Manager:
1. Manage the Council's highway structure assets, including bridges and retaining walls, developing maintenance programmes, securing funding, and supervising inspection programmes.
2. Lead and manage the delivery of schemes of all sizes within the Transportation Capital Investment Programme, monitoring budgets and liaising across the Transportation Infrastructure Service.
3. Represent the Service on working groups, forums, and partnerships.
4. Utilise technical data to prepare cost estimates, specifications, drawings, contract documents, bills of quantities, and work schedules.
5. Provide consultancy advice and produce technical reports for Council representatives and clients.
6. Develop briefs, issue work for detailed design, and liaise with other service units, outside bodies, and partners to foster cooperation and customer-focused services.
7. Design new works and maintenance schemes using engineering standards and act as 'CDM' principal designer or project manager where appropriate.
8. Manage scheme budgets and assist with internal budget management.
9. Coordinate project, safety, programme, and resource management within the team, including planning and training.
10. Supervise site works, acting as project manager and ensuring specifications and safety standards are met.
11. Manage and supervise technical staff, including work planning, quality checks, and training.
12. Conduct site inspections and surveys, and initiate remedial actions if necessary.
