Job Description
Overall Objectives: Provide physical and emotional support and care for residents, maintaining high standards of care and supervision of daily routines. Assist in creating a stable, caring environment that supports residents' emotional and psychological well-being, respecting their culture, faith, and values. Develop good working relationships with managers, participate in staff training, and take charge of shifts in the absence of the Unit Manager. Provide leadership and supervision to care teams, ensuring skill development and practice improvement. Establish effective communication channels for referrals and joint working.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Service Delivery
* Ensure all services adhere to core values, policies, and procedures, meeting regulatory standards.
* Collaborate with external professionals and families to review and develop care plans.
* Implement referral protocols for prompt responses.
* Promote good practice and person-centred support for individuals.
* Support inclusion and community participation.
* Provide coaching and mentoring to staff.
* Ensure health and safety compliance and generate medication charts as per GP instructions.
Management of Teams and Individuals
* Assist in recruitment, induction, and staff support following Safer Recruitment policies.
* Manage and supervise staff, promoting effective teamwork.
* Identify learning needs and coordinate development activities.
Communication
* Maintain effective communication systems within the team.
* Conduct regular planning and review meetings for individuals supported.
* Represent the organisation positively.
Additional Duties
* Work flexibly, including shifts, MDT meetings, deputising for the Unit Manager, and participating in projects.
* Continuously improve accreditation, QMS, and audit files.
Additional Information
The post involves working unsocial hours, weekends, and bank holidays, covering a 24/7 service. Flexibility is essential. The job description is subject to review and change in line with organisational needs.
Shifts: Mix of night and day shifts.
Essential: Experience working with people living with Dementia.
Level of DBS disclosure required: Enhanced
