Purpose of the role
Operate and monitor production machinery to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
Conduct pre-start checks and ensure machines are correctly set up for each production run.
Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance in line with hygiene and safety requirements.
Identify and report mechanical faults, performance issues, or safety concerns to the appropriate teams promptly.
Make necessary machine adjustments to maintain product specifications and quality standards.
Accurately record production data, including downtime, rejects, and output levels.
Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times.
Assist with product changeovers, trials, and continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and performance.
Maintain a clean and organised work area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Actively contribute ideas to improve production processes and reduce waste.
Actively support the line to achieve its target yields at times when no machine attention is required.
Our client are seeking a reliable and proactive Machine Minder to join their twilight shift team at their food production facility. You will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining machinery to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient production. This includes carrying out routine checks, resolving minor issues, and maintaining high standards of product quality, hygiene, and safety.
What you will bring (skills and experience)
Previous experience in a food manufacturing or fast-moving production environment.
Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operation principles.
Good attention to detail with a strong focus on product quality and safety.
Awareness of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
Ability to create, maintain and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Ability to carry out machinery risk assessments in line with safety standards.
Experience in writing detailed cleaning instructions and procedures.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Proactive attitude with the ability to identify and report issues quickly.
Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work effectively on a night shift or rotating shift pattern.
Basic IT or data entry skills for recording production information.
Willingness to learn and develop skills in machine operation and maintenance.
