Job purpose
To manage and deliver projects working with children and engaging parents:
Nurture Breakfast Group - Sessions before school every term-time morning for
Primary School aged children referred from the local school. The group promotes
emotional literacy, regulation and a safe space with trusted adults.
Little Stars Kitchen - A new initiative to engage families with a child under 5 in
learning to cook together. The sessions will promote cooking skills, social
connection and positive play.
Parenting Support - A new parenting intervention for local families providing training
and peer support
A faith-based group for parents wanting to develop their understanding of the
Christian faith
Job Specifics
* To plan the programme of sessions for all the sessions listed above
* To collaborate with the community to design and develop a new faith-based
project for families
* To liaise with a range of partners to promote the sessions and arrange
referrals where required
* To ensure all resources are in place for the projects in a timely manner To deliver cookery sessions to families on a weekly basis
* To ensure all sessions are staffed by providing a rota and managing any shift
changes as needed
* To train, support and supervise sessional staff and volunteers to deliver high
quality interventions with a playful and strengths based approach
* To be the safeguarding lead for nominated projects, dealing with concerns,
passing on appropriately to other professionals, and recording according to
Lifecentre policies
* To proactively engage parents in conversation, signposting, connection to
one another and other Lifecentre projects
* To apply for funding/complete funding feedback reports on an annual basis
* To work in a team with the staff, volunteers and members of the community
* To manage the safety and security of the Lifecentre during working hours,
including keyholder responsibilities
* To uphold the policies and procedures of the Lifecentre
* To participate in the prayer life of the Lifecentre including participating in
prayer meetings during the working day and offering prayer
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
* Experience of working with children from birth to age 11
* Experience of engaging parents and supporting them to create positive
change in their family life
* Experience in supporting and managing volunteers, demonstrating meeting
organisational requirements and supporting growth
* Experience in developing new projects and collaborating with communities
and partners
* Experience of delivering faith-based projects and supporting parents in
Christian discipleship
* Experience in managing projects, able to demonstrate high level
organisational skills Excellent written communication skills, including grammar, spelling and a
high level of written English
* Able to uphold the ethos and values of the Lifecentre, including an active
Christian faith
* Self motivated and able to work independently
* Approachable, solution focused attitude, and a proven track record of
working with a range of different people
* A flexible approach to their work
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience of engaging parents and children in underserved neighbourhoods
* Experience of supporting families to integrate into a church community
* Experience of the charity sector
* Trained in Incredible Years or Triple P parenting programmes
* Local knowledge of Salford and the challenges facing local people
In accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010, there is a Genuine
Occupational Requirement for the successful candidate to be a committed Christian,
as you will respond to enquiries about the Christian faith as part of your role, support
families' discipleship and contribute to team prayer activities.
