Health And Safety Advisor - The Role
We require a motivated and enthusiastic team player with significant experience in Health and Safety. Working under the Strategic HR Manager, you will be responsible for a full range of H&S Advisor duties, helping to deliver an efficient and effective service to our staff and managers across the Council. The H&S Advisor duties will be varied including inspections, audits, policy writing, accident investigations, providing advice and guidance as well as training and educating colleagues.
This is a busy and varied role which requires strong organisational skills and attention to detail. The 26 hour post can be split across the week to suit the successful individual and demands of the role. This role is hybrid; you will be required to visit our operational sites within Rushcliffe, alongside Rushcliffe Arena and will have some flexibility to work from home. With previous experience of working in Health and Safety, you will need to be able to communicate effectively at all levels, working efficiently as part of a team but mainly on your own initiative.
Health And Safety Advisor - Key Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and keep up to date with relevant UK legislation
* Advise and assist line management to fulfil their responsibilities for the Health & Safety of employees and others affected by the actions of the Council
* Perform periodic inspections/audits/assessments to identify unsafe plant, working conditions and working practices (including those of sub-contractors) and report the results of such inspections to the relevant department concerned
* Collate, record, report and submit as appropriate all accident information in accordance with legal requirements or in which an interest is expressed by HSE, Solicitors, Police, Insurance
* Companies, etc. and ensure direct liaison with the appropriate body as necessary
* Advise about the design and implementation of safe systems of work, and support risk assessment activities to positively influence the reduction of risks
Health And Safety Advisor - You
* Previous extensive experience of providing health and safety advice and support
* Understanding and experience of carrying out health and safety inspections and audits
* A recognised Health and Safety Qualification, for example NEBOSH or equivalent
* Understanding of health and safety legislation
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strong literacy and numeracy skills
