Job Title: Band 7 - AHP Community Clinical Skills Educator. Salary: £51,883 - £58,544 pro rata per annum inc HCAS.
Role Purpose
The Community Clinical Educator leads, develops and supports AHP professionals across physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, speech and language therapy, dietetics and other disciplines. The post provides organisational leadership for AHP education, ensuring high-quality clinical skills training, professional development and pastoral support. The postholder represents AHP education in internal and external forums and coordinates student and work placements, strengthening practice-based learning and the student experience. The role supports the full AHP workforce pipeline from student placements to advanced practice and career development. The postholder also leads Moving and Handling (M&H) education across the organisation, providing strategic oversight and ensuring compliance and quality assurance.
Main duties
Lead the design, coordination and delivery of AHP education and clinical skills programmes, including simulation, digital and blended learning, skills labs and in-practice teaching. Monitor and improve education quality through feedback, audits, incidents and research. Support induction, preceptorship and ongoing development for AHPs, providing specialist advice to supervisors and practice educators and delivering train-the-trainer and upskilling sessions.
Coordinate AHP student and work placements with academic partners, supervisors and service teams. Support students and early-career AHPs through coaching and in-practice teaching, ensuring learning environments are safe, welcoming and aligned with workforce needs. Contribute to community career pathways that support recruitment and workforce sustainability.
Act as organisational lead for AHP education in internal and external forums, providing visible leadership and promoting continuous learning. Work with clinical and operational leads and academic institutions to strengthen AHP education and workforce development.
Lead Moving and Handling education, ensuring compliance and safe practice. Oversee the trainer faculty, deliver practical sessions and support policy, audit and improvement activity. Use evaluation and audit to improve education delivery, produce reports for senior leadership and manage allocated funding responsibly.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Educational Programme Development and Delivery
* Lead the development of AHPs to meet organisational priorities, service requirements and individual needs.
* Develop learning programmes in response to training needs in collaboration with the Quality and Operational leads, other Academy team members and Service Leads.
* Develop and facilitate learning programmes using classroom, written guides, online learning, virtual sessions, and innovative methods such as VR and AI.
* Plan and deliver educational programmes within clinical skills, covering Clinical Practice, Education, Leadership and Research.
* Lead and deliver clinical skills induction for newly qualified staff transitioning to the community setting.
* Plan and facilitate clinical skills courses and learning activities, including 1:1 training, classroom sessions and simulation-based training.
* Promote innovative education methods to maximise knowledge dissemination and learning experience.
* Lead and deliver training programmes that address development, quality and governance of clinical practice learning within Bromley Healthcare.
* Share learning from patient feedback, incidents and investigations to inform safe practice.
Manual Handling Training and Compliance
* Lead the delivery of Moving and Handling training, ensuring it is comprehensive and evidence-based.
* Act as content lead for manual handling training, advising on implementation, duration and content to ensure compliance with best practice, policy and legal requirements.
* Prepare, deliver and evaluate Manual Handling training with consideration of non-clinical, clinical updates, staff induction and specialist workshops.
* Support and develop Corporate and Key Trainers to provide Manual Handling Training and ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
* Provide training and ongoing development and train-the-trainer support for Manual Handling link colleagues.
Workforce Development and Student Support
* Provide direct support to staff in the AHP clinical/work-based learning environment.
* Collaborate to increase AHP student placements within the organisation, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
* Support supervisors and assessors in clinical practice to ensure learners receive quality guidance and support.
* Work with clinical leads on recruitment, selection and workforce planning for apprenticeships and seconded students.
* Lead development of staff supervising and assessing students in clinical practice to foster a positive learning culture.
* Ensure student placements meet quality standards and support audits in partnership with education providers.
* Collaborate with external stakeholders to develop learning strategies and contribute to recruitment processes for pre- and post-registration AHP students.
Quality, Governance, and Compliance
* Act as an internal consultant on healthcare practice and education and disseminate relevant policy decisions.
* Ensure appraisals and mandatory training compliance are maintained to benchmarked standards.
* Lead workforce transformation projects and collaborate on joint commissioning bids.
* Lead in designing interventions to support supervision and practice learning, aligning with HCPC/NMC standards.
* Collect, analyse and report data to meet organisational and regulatory requirements.
* Ensure student placements meet quality standards and respond to Radar reports involving AHP students.
* Work with education providers and SEL ICB to support capacity and auditing processes, and initiate new developments to enhance student learning in practice.
Strategic Leadership and Partnership Working
* Lead partnership work between practice-based staff and education liaison staff.
* Collaborate with department heads to embed knowledge and skills, supporting learners and practice supervisors and assessors.
* Develop community career pathways for all clinical roles and negotiate with HEIs to optimise student programmes.
* Promote and maintain the quality of the learning environment in partnership with Health Education England and other providers.
* Communicate national and regional strategies and proposals in collaboration with senior leaders.
* Deputise for the AD of Workforce Systems and Development when required.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Degree-level qualification in an AHP profession (OT, PT, SLT, Dietetics, Podiatry, etc.).
* HCPC Registration (or other relevant professional registration).
* Post-graduate Practice Educator qualification or formal teaching qualification or evidence of formal teaching/training experience.
Experience
* Significant post-registration clinical experience with strong community understanding.
* Experience designing/delivering AHP education and clinical skills programmes.
* Experience supporting students/learners in practice, supervising assessors or placement activity.
* Experience in Moving & Handling training/supervision.
* Experience producing evaluation/audit/QI or reporting.
