We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Biomedical Scientist who is professional, reliable, innovative, and flexible to join our friendly and hardworking team. The role involves assisting with the routine Haematology & Coagulation service at Ipswich Hospital.
The ideal candidate will be HCPC registered with relevant knowledge and experience in NHS laboratory Haematology & Coagulation, appropriate for this band. You should be confident, motivated, and possess a wide range of skills, including good numeracy and literacy, training experience, and attention to detail. Previous experience with ACL TOP and Sysmex XN analysers, or an understanding of the technologies used within Haematology & Coagulation, is desirable.

Role Responsibilities
1. Supervising the Coagulation and Haematology sections, managing daily organization and staffing.
2. Ensuring analysers are maintained correctly and troubleshooting as needed.
3. Dealing with engineering visits and managing section operations during planned or unplanned downtime.
4. Monitoring quality control performance and initiating remedial actions.
5. Managing stock control, reagent ordering, and updating SOPs and staff competency logs.
6. Ensuring ISO:15189 compliance.
7. Deputising for the Haematology Lead in their absence, requiring good knowledge of routine Haematology and Coagulation.
8. Overseeing purchase orders, invoicing, and liaising with referral providers.
The post is line managed by the Blood Sciences – Haematology Manager at Ipswich.
