Job Description for Principal Process Engineer:

We seek a versatile and experienced Principal Process Engineer to lead projects from initial specification to operational delivery, managing multi-disciplinary teams. The role is flexible regarding location, with options at Preston or Risley, and may involve travel between sites and customer locations.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead a team of engineers to develop detailed process plant designs.
* Review and approve calculations, drawings, reports, and design memos.
* Collaborate with Project Managers on estimates, schedules, and ensuring project delivery aligns with quality, safety, time, and budget.
* Define procurement requirements and coordinate with suppliers.
* Manage sub-contracted design work as the intelligent customer.
* Lead plant commissioning activities and develop relevant documentation.
* Ensure design compliance with regulations like DSEAR, PSSR, and Functional Safety.
* Support troubleshooting and problem-solving in active plant areas.
* Interface with safety disciplines for HAZOP and engineering reports.
* Mentor junior engineers and oversee their design activities.
* Contribute to business improvements and employee development programs.
Essential Criteria
* Chartered Engineer status.
* Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field with extensive mechanical engineering experience.
* Experience leading design projects in regulated industries.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, quality, and environmental standards.
* Experience supporting procurement and leading multidisciplinary reviews.
* Proven ability to produce substantiation reports and communicate complex concepts clearly.
* Experience in hazardous process commissioning and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to obtain SC security clearance.
Desirable Criteria
* Significant nuclear sector experience.
* Strong leadership and organizational skills.
* Experience with hazardous area classification, pressure relief systems, and functional safety.
