Head of Digital ProductsWe are searching for an experienced Head of Digital Products

RSM is a leading provider of audit, tax, and consultingservices to middle-market leaders, globally. Our national technology team supports our client-facing Audit, Tax and Consulting teams in our goal of becoming a digital first business. We provide IT support and technology change services to our business teams, including the development of innovative software solutions and digital products that meet the highest standards of performance, security, and user experience. As we continue to expand our digital solutions, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to step into the role of Head of Digital Products..

Role Overview

This senior digital leadership role oversees internal software and digital product development across RSM UK & Ireland. As Head of Digital Products you will work closely with the business and the Chief Digital Officer to define and deliver a roadmap of software and digital solutions. The digital product portfolio combines solutions used internally to enhance business productivity and enable regulatory compliance, alongside revenue generating products that RSM takes to market to solve client challenges. We foresee this portfolio expanding as the firm invests further in custom solutions for our clients, and in digital productivity solutions to support our teams.

Examples of current products developed and supported by the software team include the RSM client portal, a strategic online platform used to interact with over 22,000 clients; revenue-generating products including RSM Tracker and RSM Insight4GRC; RSM UK’s audit working papers platform, Orbit; and internal software such as our client-onboarding platform and numerous other compliance solutions. This portfolio is expanded to grow in response to business and client demand.

The right candidate for the role will combine significant leadership experience within a software engineering environment, with strong commercial acumen and the ability to collaborate with senior business stakeholders to define and deliver future digital product roadmaps in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. They will bring experience and know-on of how to launch grow revenue-generating digital products, as well as a demonstrated ability to drive innovation (including the use of AI) into a software engineering practice to enhance delivery velocity.

As demand for digital solutions grows, this role will expand in strategic importance, scaling development capacity, evolving delivery models, and introducing new capabilities to meet rising internal and client-facing needs.

Key Responsibilities

Team Management:

1. Provide leadership, oversight and direct line management to internal software development team leads, ensuring effective delivery.
2. Lead and manage one of RSM’s established software development teams.
3. Help to recruit and retain top engineering talent.
4. Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and staff engagement.
5. Introduce new technologies, including AI, to drive innovation and enhanced velocity into our software engineering practices.

Software Engineering Oversight:

6. Implement best practices in software development, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
7. Ensure all platforms are built with return on investment, performance, security and scalability in mind - being designed and engineered to handle growth in users and data
8. Lead the software engineering response to critical incidents, including working with other teams within National Technology, the wider RSM business and technology partners to ensure robust processes, rapid resolution, root cause analysis, collaboration with client-facing business stakeholders, and the implementation of preventative measures/ continuous process improvement.
9. Oversee and approve change requests, including active participation in Change Advisory Board meetings.

Technology Adoption:

10. Drive the appropriate adoption of technologies that align with our engineering principles and deliver measurable improvements in productivity and software quality, including the responsible use of AI.
11. Lead the integration of AI-powered agents into RSM’s digital platforms to create more intelligent, adaptive, and user-centric experiences, enabling capabilities such as predictive insights, automated decision support, dynamic workflows, and real-time contextual guidance.
12. Develop a strategic approach to technology adoption within the team proactively assessing emerging tools, frameworks, and platforms for alignment with RSM’s Digital Strategy
13. Ensure architectural alignment by fostering close collaboration with cyber security, architecture, infrastructure and technology partners to maintain coherence across the enterprise landscape,
14. Support the firm’s hybrid cloud strategy by aligning engineering practices with modern architectural principles, including containerisation where appropriate.
15. Champion the adoption of secure DevOps (SecDevOps) methodologies to ensure scalable, resilient, and secure software delivery.

Strategic Liaison:

16. Collaborate with Microland, our strategic technology partner, to effectively align development capacity with project needs, leveraging both onshore and offshore development resource as required
17. Build and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders, including product owners, ensuring their requirements are met and expectations exceeded.
18. Advise the business on digital product launch, support and enablement to meet business goals of driving revenue growth from new and existing client-facing products
19. Act as a bridge between the technology team and other departments, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
20. Influence enterprise architecture decisions to ensure alignment with long-term digital goals.

Cost Management:

21. Lead annual budgeting for software engineering, including salary and performance reviews.
22. Manage budgets and financial planning for the software development, optimising expenditures while maintaining high standards.

Leadership and Strategy:

23. Contribute to the national technology leadership team by aligning development priorities with RSM’s corporate and digital strategies, while representing the software engineering team in leadership meetings to provide insights and strategic recommendations that support the firm’s goals
24. Develop and implement strategic plans for the software engineering department (Including people, technology and processes) which will help to deliver RSMs digital strategy
25. Responsible for the identification, assessment, and management of risks within software engineering, including risk of delays, technical debt and security vulnerabilities.

Key Qualifications

Experience:

26. At least 10 years in a senior software engineering role with substantial people leadership responsibilities.
27. Experience scaling engineering teams and delivery models in response to growing business demand.
28. Relevant agile certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) are desirable.

Education:

29. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Industry Knowledge:

30. An understanding of the professional services industry and its regulatory environment.

Skills:

31. Strong leadership and team management skills.
32. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
33. Proficiency in modern software development practices and technologies.
34. Strong agile project management skills, including hands-on experience with Scrum, Agile frameworks
