We are recruiting a fixed‑term role, up to 2 years, for somebody with experience of working in or regulating energy sectors, including combustion plants, waste incineration, and refineries. You’ll need to: provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training; develop strategy for our sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes; commission and manage external research projects where needed; work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training.
* Develop strategy for our sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development, and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations, and other key industry players.
* Respond to incidents and make yourself available to provide business continuity support during an incident.
Experience & Skills Required
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work.
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, and experience of the work area for the role in question, gained either by working within and/or regulating relevant processes, including knowledge of control measures for emissions to air where relevant.
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
* Work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
