We are looking to recruit innovative midwives who are passionate about providing quality care to birthing families and are dedicated to evidence-based practice.
Here in Oxfordshire, our Maternity Services offer a unique setup, with around 7,500 babies born annually. We have four stand-alone Midwifery-Led Birth Units located at Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage, and Wallingford, as well as home birth options across all areas. Additionally, there is an integrated birth unit where approximately 10% of birthing people choose to go into labor. As a large tertiary hospital, the John Radcliffe features a comprehensive Delivery Suite with three Maternity Theatres, a dedicated birthing pool room, and a Maternity Recovery Ward.
This advert is for newly qualified midwives expected to qualify by January 2025.
Newly qualified midwives will participate in a 12-18 month preceptorship program designed by our team of Practice Development midwives.
We currently have roles available for Band 5 and 6 Midwives within the John Radcliffe hospital setting and in some community teams.
Band 5 interviews will be held in September.
Please Note:
* This role is NOT eligible for International Educated Midwives who have never worked in the UK. We will advertise a separate 12-week International Educated Midwives program when vacancies arise. You will NOT be shortlisted if you fall into this category.
* This advert is capped and will close early if the maximum number of applicants is reached.
Our Maternity Services in Oxfordshire are designed to support both low and high-risk women, with opportunities to rotate across different units and departments. We work closely with specialist teams such as the Fetal and Maternal Medicine Unit, Breech Team, and Maternity Bereavement Teams.
We offer substantial staff support focusing on wellbeing and professional development, including Midwifery Advocates, Wellbeing Champions, staff networks, and access to a Maternity Psychologist. The Practice Development Team provides regular study days and clinical support. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring every team member feels valued and heard.
We believe that supporting our staff's wellbeing directly contributes to the highest quality of care for women and birthing people.
