We are currently seeking an experienced Head of HR on a permanent basis to lead a strong HR team based in Solihull.
This is a new role for the organisation after recent growth, and will be crucial in providing leadership and strategic direction for the HR department, helping them to deliver a comprehensive HR service and ensuring the smooth running of the HR team and day-to-day operational HR and Payroll activity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing a HR team of 6, setting clear objectives, coaching for growth, and ensuring the team has the skills, confidence, and support needed to deliver an outstanding HR and payroll service
2. Creating and executing people strategies that underpin business objectives, foster employee engagement, and ensure adherence to employment legislation and recognised best practice
3. Acting as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, offering expert guidance on all people‑related matters, influencing decision‑making by providing strategic insight, risk‑aware recommendations, and solutions aligned to organisational priorities
4. Overseeing the design, implementation, and periodic review of HR policies to ensure they remain legally compliant, up‑to‑date, and aligned with best practice
5. Leading and continuously improving the recruitment and onboarding processes to attract, hire, and retain high‑quality talent
6. Supporting the development and implementation of learning and development initiatives that enhance capability and career progression
7. Driving initiatives that strengthen organisational capability, including workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development
8. Overseeing salary benchmarking activities and conduct workforce analysis to support equitable, competitive, and evidence‑based reward decisions
9. Providing leadership and oversight of payroll and benefits processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a smooth employee experience
10. Utilising HR metrics, management information, and data analysis to inform decision-making, identify trends, and recommend improvements
About You:
11. Ideally CIPD level 7 qualified
12. Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role
13. Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
14. Experience of training and developing team members
15. Ability to influence and advise at a senior level
16. Experience of leading HR change programmes or transformation projects
17. Experience of HR analytics, workforce planning, and benchmarking
18. Experience within manufacturing environment (desirable)
