Shared Lives is a service within Adult Services in the Vale of Glamorgan County Council. We recruit Carers who have their own homes to support individuals with varying needs including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, mental health issues and dementia.
Our assessed and trained Carers then open their own family home to the person needing support, both Carer and Individual are carefully matched.

About the role
Pay Details: Grade 9 (spinal point 31-35) £41,771- £46,142 (Pro Rata), £21.65- £23.92(per hour)
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week

Description: This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and organised individual to join the Shared Lives team as a Senior Project Worker. In this new role, you will assist the Shared Lives Team Manager in providing practical leadership and supervision to Shared Lives project workers and carers and ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of daily operations. You will have the opportunity to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team. As the Senior Project Worker you will also hold a caseload of Shared Lives Carers.
About you
You will need:
• Experience in at least one of the following service areas: Family Placement / Adult Services/Vulnerable Adults/Shared Lives
• Experience in the undertaking of assessments, including risk assessments, and formulation of support plans.
• Experience in working with people with care and support needs.
• Experience of collaborative, multi-disciplinary/interagency working
• Experience in managing staff/mentoring/coaching or supervision within a health and/or social care setting.
• Experience of Adult Safeguarding procedures
• Awareness of relevant policy and legislation; Social Services Wellbeing Act, Regulation, and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act (2016)
• Knowledge and commitment to the concepts of the Councils Equal Opportunities Policy
Mental Capacity Act (2005), Adult Placement Schemes Regulations (Wales) 2019 &
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards/ Liberty Protection Safeguards
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Administration skills, e.g., file management, word processing contemporary IT
• Ability to plan, set priorities and work on your own initiative.
• Ability to identify, prevent and manage conflict.
• Ability to manage staff and coordinate day to day operational processes.
• Ability to reflect on and challenge own practice and that of others.
• Ability to assess and make recommendations.
• Ability to analyse information and write comprehensive reports
• Appropriate Health/Social Care Qualification
o e.g., BSc Social Work/Dip SW, RNMH/RNLD, Health and Social Care Management Qualification, (QCF Level 5 or equivalent)
• Evidence of commitment to Continuing professional Development
• Ability to work independently and co-operatively as a member of a team.
• Ability to organise time and priorities of self and others, work under pressure and to deadlines.
