We’re working with a specialist secondary setting in South Shields that supports pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). They’re looking for a compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join their team from September.
What you’ll be doing: Supporting pupils aged 11–16 who face a range of emotional and behavioural challenges
Building trusted relationships and helping students feel safe, heard, and valued
Delivering personalised interventions to support self-regulation and wellbeing
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to create a consistent, trauma-informed approach
Encouraging positive behaviour and celebrating small steps of progress
About you: Experience supporting young people with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs
Confident using de-escalation strategies and building trust over time
Patient, empathetic and able to stay calm under pressure
Relevant background (education, youth work, mental health, psychology or care)
