Technical Manager - 6+ month Contract - Based Northampton (Hybrid role)\n\nOur client is a highly respected housing developer who specialise in niche, high quality new build family housing.\n\nAn opportunity has arisen for a Technical Manager to join the business on an initial 6 month contract, working from the office and remotely.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDesign & Technical Coordination:\n\n * Manage and coordinate the design process, working closely with architects, engineers, planning consultants, and other design professionals.\n\n * Ensure all technical aspects of a project are aligned with client specifications, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.\n\n * Lead technical review meetings and ensure effective communication between design and site teams.\n\n * Manage the preparation, review, and approval of technical drawings and documents.\n\nCompliance & Regulation:\n\n * Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, Planning Permissions, CDM Regulations, NHBC/LABC standards, and other statutory and warranty provider requirements.\n\n * Manage discharge of planning conditions and coordinate Building Control approvals.\n\nProject Management & Delivery Support:\n\n * Contribute to the preparation of pre-construction programmes, tender documentation, and technical submissions.\n\n * Work alongside the construction and commercial teams to ensure technical information supports effective procurement and site delivery.\n\n * Provide input into value engineering exercises without compromising on quality or performance.\n\n * Attend site progress meetings and support the resolution of technical/site-related queries.\n\nConsultant & Team Management:\n\n * Appoint and manage external design consultants, ensuring delivery against project milestones.\n\n * Monitor and manage consultant performance, issuing instructions and managing design change control.\n\n * Act as the technical point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and authorities.\n\nDocumentation & Control:\n\n * Oversee technical document control systems to ensure the latest drawings and specifications are issued and followed.\n\n * Review and approve technical documents including specifications, drawings, and product information.\n\n * Maintain a robust audit trail of decisions and approvals in line with QA procedures.\n\nEssential Skills & Experience:\n\n * Strong understanding of UK construction methods, materials, and building regulations.\n\n * Proven experience as a Technical Manager or Design Manager in the construction industry.\n\n * Experience managing residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects from pre-construction to handover.\n\n * Proficiency in technical drawing interpretation and familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM workflows.\n\n * Excellent knowledge of planning processes, Building Control procedures, and compliance standards.\n\n * Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple stakeholders
