🚨 Assistant Director – Housing Standards (Private Rented Sector)
💼 London Local Authority | £700–£750 per day (Umbrella) | Hybrid - 4 days office | Interim
A fantastic opportunity has arisen with a progressive London Local Authority for an experienced housing leader to drive up standards, strengthen partnerships, and ensure compliance across the private and social housing sectors.
As a key member of the Housing Management Team, you will:
🏡 Lead borough-wide improvement in housing quality and regulatory compliance
🤝 Build strong relationships with Registered Providers and private landlords
⚖️ Oversee delivery of the Renters Rights Act and Leasehold & Freehold Reform Act 2024
đź“Š Provide strategic oversight, performance reporting, and assurance to senior leadership
💷 Influence a budget of £5–10m and manage a high-performing multi-disciplinary team
You’ll act as the authority’s expert adviser on all private sector housing matters, shaping policy, service delivery, and long-term improvement strategies that enhance resident outcomes and community wellbeing.
About You:
âś” Proven experience at senior level within housing or local government
âś” Strong knowledge of housing legislation and policy reform
âś” Track record in driving service improvement and managing complex budgets
âś” Confident leader with excellent stakeholder engagement and strategic insight
