Role Context
We are expanding our Water teams in the UK, focusing on high-profile infrastructure projects. We seek an experienced Senior Hydraulic Modeller to work primarily on Rainwater Management and SuDS projects aimed at reducing flood risk and improving watercourse quality.
Main Responsibilities
1. Hydraulic Modelling: Lead the design, calibration, and validation of hydraulic models using tools like InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller, and TuFlow. Simulate rainfall-runoff, urban drainage, and flood scenarios.
2. Nature-Based Solutions Design: Design rainwater management solutions and evaluate the hydraulic performance of SuDS, wetlands, and green infrastructure. Collaborate with teams to incorporate these into water management projects.
3. Flood Risk Assessment: Conduct detailed flood risk analyses, propose mitigation strategies, and incorporate climate change projections for resilience.
4. Data Analysis and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, visualizations, and manage project communications.
5. Stakeholder Engagement: Work with water companies, regulators, authorities, and community groups to align project outputs with stakeholder needs.
Candidate Profile & Skills
* Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Water/Rivers-related fields or equivalent experience.
* Experience: Extensive hydraulic modelling experience in urban/rural water projects.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in InfoWorks ICM, Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS, TuFlow; knowledge of Rainwater Management, SuDS, flood risk management, and green infrastructure.
* Professional Memberships: Aim for Chartered Water Manager or Chartered Environmentalist status.
* Analytical Skills: Scenario testing, sensitivity analysis, GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS).
* Knowledge: UK water industry regulations, climate adaptation strategies.
* Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication, stakeholder collaboration, mentoring abilities.
