Electrician – Queen’s Hospital Romford
Salary: £43,925 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week (participation in on‑call and 7‑day cover rota required)

Are you a skilled electrician with a passion for keeping critical healthcare environments running safely and efficiently? Join our Estates team at Queen’s Hospital Romford, where you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving essential electrical systems that support patient care.
What you’ll do
* Safely operate and maintain a wide range of electrical plant and equipment across the hospital.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), statutory inspections and reactive repairs in line with Sodexo and NHS Trust standards.
* Diagnose and repair complex faults across electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, nurse call, HVAC, access control and standby generator systems.
* Provide technical advice, liaise with contractors and suppliers, and ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and IET regulations.
* Use Sodexo’s CAFM system to manage work orders and maintain accurate records.
* Contribute to the on‑call rota, providing emergency support 24/7 as part of a dedicated engineering team.
What we’re looking for
* Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or structured training programme.
* City & Guilds (or equivalent) qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
* Proven experience in a maintenance environment (hospital or healthcare experience desirable).
* Sound understanding of electrical systems, statutory compliance and Health & Safety legislation.
* Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Willingness to undertake specialist training (e.g. Authorised Person – LV).
