SEN Secondary School Teacher
Location: Dibden, Southampton
Term Time Only | Monday to Friday | Weekly Pay

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEN Secondary Teacher to join the team at a well-established special educational needs (SEN) school in Dibden, Southampton. The school caters to children aged 8-16 who have a range of complex needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, challenging behaviour, and social communication difficulties.

The School is committed to providing a nurturing environment where every student is respected, valued, and supported to achieve their full potential. They focus on creating personalised learning experiences, and the dedicated team works closely with families, professionals, and the local community to ensure the best outcomes for our students. The school is equipped with a range of resources to support learning and development, and pride themselves on an inclusive ethos and positive approach to managing behaviour.


Responsibilities:

* Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students.
* Support the emotional, social, and academic development of students with a variety of complex needs.
* Manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies and techniques.
* Collaborate with other teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour.
* Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported.


Minimum Requirements:

* A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
* Experience working with children with complex needs, including SEMH and social communication difficulties (not directly essential, but preferred).
* A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to teaching.
* Strong classroom management skills.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.


Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in a similar SEN teaching role, preferably in a secondary school setting.
* Understanding of the specific needs of children with SEMH and challenging behaviours.
* Ability to use alternative communication methods where appropriate (e.g., Makaton, PECS).

All candidates must have or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.

This is a term-time only position, working Monday to Friday. You will be paid on a weekly basis. We offer free opportunities for professional development.
