About the Role
Warwickshire County Council is seeking to appoint a dedicated and politically astute individual to serve as Political Assistant to the Reform UK group. This role is politically restricted under Section 9 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
As a Political Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting elected members to carry out their duties effectively. You will work closely with councillors to provide strategic, administrative, and communications support, ensuring their political group’s voice is well-informed, well-researched, and well-represented.
Key Responsibilities
* Drafting speeches, press releases, newsletters, and digital content to promote the group’s work.
* Conducting research and preparing briefing materials on key political and policy issues.
* Managing correspondence and responding to enquiries from constituents, media, and stakeholders.
* Supporting councillors at public meetings, surgeries, and community events.
* Coordinating diaries, travel, and meeting logistics.
* Assisting with political campaigns and election preparation.
* Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with data protection and council protocols.
About You
We’re looking for individuals who are politically aware, highly organised, and excellent communicators. You will need to demonstrate:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in research and IT systems.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A diplomatic and professional approach to sensitive matters.
* Integrity, discretion, and a commitment to confidentiality.
Experience in a political, public affairs, or communications environment is desirable, but not essential.
