Principal People are recruiting a Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability for a long-established, national UK manufacturing organisation. This is a senior, highly visible role reporting directly to the Operations Director, with responsibility for leading and developing a small H&S team and driving best-in-class safety culture across a multi-site operation.
The role is home-based, with regular travel to sites across the Midlands and South of England, and occasional travel further afield as required.

The Role
You will take ownership of Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability strategy across the business, acting as a trusted partner to operational leaders and site teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing expert advice and practical support to site teams on all HSES matters
Strategising, developing and implementing effective HSE, environmental and sustainability initiatives
Leading, coaching and developing a team of 2 experienced Health & Safety Advisors
Building strong, positive relationships across sites to enhance HSE culture
Supporting underperforming sites by identifying risks and implementing improvement strategies
Promoting awareness and engagement through pragmatic, site-focused solutions
What We're Looking For
NEBOSH General Certificate (NEBOSH Diploma preferred)
Proven Health & Safety experience within manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments
Previous management or leadership experience (beneficial)
Strong knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices
Full UK driving licence
A proactive, solutions-focused individual who can work independently and build credibility at all levels
