Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent 8b Practitioner Psychologist to join Cancer Psychological Services (CPS) based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital as the Lead Psychologist for Haemato-Oncology.
The successful applicant will join a friendly and supportive group of psychological professionals that includes practitioner psychologists, art psychotherapists and counsellors. You will be able to access funded CPD and join a specialist supervision groups (eg ACT, CFT, Narrative therapy and EMDR) alongside individual supervision which will be provided by a consultant psychologist working in cancer. CPS is well connected to the other psycho-oncology services within North East London and participation in regional and national developments alongside research is actively encouraged.
As a service we are actively working to increase diversity within our workforce, as well as to improve equity of access and outcomes for all patients within cancer services. We are therefore eager to receive applications from people who represent our local East London population.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will lead the haemato-oncology pathways, with a particular focus on redesigning and overseeing the provision of inpatient support to the cancer wards. The role works clinically into the specialist stem cell transplant and CAR-T therapy pathways alongside more general cancer work. Whilst there will be ample opportunity to offer direct psychological interventions, there is just as strong an emphasis on integrating psychological care into the existing haemato-oncology MDT through indirect work, training and reflective practice. Applicants should therefore be skilled and keen to engage in MDT working.
The post holder will also be expected to provide line management and supervision to both qualified and unqualified members of the CPS team.
Informal enquiries are encouraged.
We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates as they are underrepresented within Barts Health at this band.
