Job Description
As a Lecturer, you will deliver scheduled teaching sessions across a range of provision types, including Adult Learning, Apprenticeships, and Young People. Your role will encompass teaching, personal development, and pastoral care, while also contributing to quality assurance processes such as apprenticeship and programme reviews. You will be responsible for providing formal feedback on student progress and developing key documentation including SOLAR and assessment plans. Collaboration with employers may be required, and you will work closely with a wider team to build strong working relationships that support student progression and success.
To be considered for this role, candidates should hold an NVQ Level 3 or Advanced Craft Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery, along with relevant industry experience as a practicing carpenter. The successful applicant will be confident working with learners across a range of abilities and committed to supporting their development. Strong collaboration skills are essential, as you will work closely with the Carpentry & Joinery Learning Support Technician and take responsibility for organising and supervising students during practical sessions.
Successful candidates may be able to apply for a recruitment and retention payment through the Department for Education, Targeted Retention Incentive, providing they are within their first five years of teaching within Further Education. For the 2024 to 2025 academic year, the targeted retention incentive payment ranges from £2,000 to £6,000.
