Operations Team Leader

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well established distribution business operating across the UK and Ireland. As part of a larger group supplying sustainable products, our client provides a true one-stop solution through a national distribution network supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a safety-focused and commercially aware Operations Team Leader to join their busy Avonmouth site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will support the Operations Manager in driving performance, leading from the front, and contributing to the ongoing success of a fast-paced operation.
The Role
This is a shop floor–focused position, with approximately 80% of your time spent working alongside the team and leading by example.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading the team to deliver an efficient and successful pick and load operation
*
Supporting and conducting daily team briefings
*
Promoting and maintaining safe systems of work with a safety-first mindset
*
Inspecting, checking and maintaining warehouse plant and equipment
*
Managing daily and weekly stock checks
*
Ensuring quality standards are upheld across picking, despatch, transfers and deliveries
*
Liaising with external partners, including hauliers and agencies, as required
*
Maximising vehicle loads in line with business KPIs while ensuring load weight compliance
About You
The successful candidate will have:

A valid Forklift Licence
*
A strong safety-first approach
*
Excellent team-building and relationship management skills
*
A professional approach when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders
*
A solid understanding of Health & Safety compliance
*
Experience using computer and transport management systems (or a willingness to learn)
*
A continuous improvement mindset and openness to change
*
Flexibility to work overtime during busy periods
