BCHC has more than 5000 staff working across Birmingham and the West Midlands in a wide range of community nursing and specialist healthcare roles. Key Responsibilities

* Covering maternity Leave, you will work as part of the Medical Secretariat to meet overall service priorities and targets. This will require close liaison with clinical and support staff across the Division, other clinical leadership teams, patient services, and service users
* Provide a support medical secretarial service within the Division. Undertake accurate audio/copy typing of medical correspondence and general administration; undertake general office duties, which will include answering the telephone, taking messages ensuring comprehensive information is captured as appropriate, photocopying, filing, faxing and associated duties in an efficient and timely manner, support the day-to-day functions of the Medical Secretariat, managing priorities and contributing to the provision of well‑led, professional, efficient, accurate and timely service; provide support for written and telephone enquiries on behalf of the Medical Secretariat.
* Type urgent and routine NHS clinical letters where required and transcribe letters from audio recordings ensuring accuracy and a high standard of presentation.
* Assist in achieving national and local performance targets.
* Support the service during periods of short staffing levels by working.
* Deputise in the absence of the Senior Medical Secretaries where required.
* Actively engage with the Specialty Management Groups to support the delivery of local and national targets.
* Assist in the collation of information for reports, for example medical reports or incident reports for auditing as required.
* Input and retrieve data within various computer systems and databases such as patient administrative systems (PAS) i.e., Rio/R4, ensuring data quality and accuracy of any information entered.
* Work as part of a wider team and share responsibility to contribute towards the smooth running of an administrative service.
* Provide a customer‑focused service and be able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients and staff at all levels.
* Use Microsoft Applications (e.g. Excel) for maintaining and managing records a
* Report any issues or complaints as necessary through the DATIX incident management system.
* Undertake other duties commensurate with this grade of post in agreement with the relevant line manager.

Visa Sponsorship

In accordance with UK Home Office requirements, Band 2 clinical and non‑clinical roles and Band 3 Non‑Clinical roles are not eligible for sponsorship. Please note that the majority of non‑clinical roles (Agenda for Change Band 3 - 6) with the exception of those which appear on this list - link, will not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. All non‑clinical roles (Agenda for Change Bands 7 - 9) that meet the prescribed skill level (RQF 6) and salary threshold will be eligible for sponsorship. The Trust will accept applications from candidates who can evidence their right to work in the UK or via alternative visa routes.

DBS Costs

Please be aware that all new employees starting work with the Trust will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary in 3 payments over a 3‑month period once you start employment. By applying for this role, you are agreeing to these deductions being made. The charges for the DBS include the administration fee. The total costs are £26.40 for a standard check and £54.40 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for. For bank Workers the full cost of the DBS check (as detailed above) will be deducted from your pay following completion of your online mandatory training. No payment will be made for your online training until it is all complete and verified by the Temporary Staffing Team. Please note: You will not be able to work any bank shifts until you have completed your mandatory training, and your DBS is in place.
