Job summary The purpose of ABLs Be U North Yorkshire Service is to provide assessments for children and young people on the autism diagnostic pathway via the NHS. Main duties of the job Key duties and responsibilities include managing a caseload to deliver a high-quality autism diagnostic service for children and young people across Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale, supporting the diagnostic process, screening referrals, and producing clear diagnostic reports for families and professionals. The role involves delivering assessments in appropriate settings, maintaining accurate records in line with CQC and organisational standards, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide guidance and support to families, carers and professionals. The postholder will facilitate supervision for Assistant Psychologists and allied health professionals, contribute to integrated care pathways, service development, recruitment, training and induction of staff, and support clinical and operational improvements. Additional responsibilities include providing autism awareness training, attending mandatory training and supervision, maintaining up-to-date evidence-based knowledge, participating in audits, quality assurance and research activity, and contributing to continuous improvement and high standards of care across the service. Job description Job responsibilities We are recruiting a Clinical Psychologist to join the Be U North Yorkshire team. We provide diagnostic assessments for children/young people aged 4-18 on the autism diagnostic pathways. The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide autism assessments for children and young people. Assessments will be carried out in line with relevant clinical pathways as outlined within Be U North Yorkshires operational procedure. The post holder will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values clients and their parents/carers. Duties and Responsibilities To manage own caseload delivering a high quality, effective and efficient autism diagnostic service to children and young people across Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale. To assist other team members with the diagnostic process for those suspected of being autistic. To lead with the appropriate screening of referrals and provide information for referrers, clients and carers. To formulate reports explaining the persons diagnosis for a range of audiences including client, families and other professionals. Ensure assessment is provided in a range of settings suitable to meet the needs of the children/young people. Work in a professional and collaborative manner with the multi-disciplinary team. Provide information, education and support for family members, carers and other relevant professionals. Participate and promote positive multi-disciplinary team working Participate in case load supervision to monitor the standards of client cases and ensure record keeping is in accordance with CQC standards Facilitate clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists and other allied Health Professionals within the service. Participate in regular clinical and managerial supervision with Clinical Lead/Head of Autism Services, as per ABL Health policy. Contribute to the development and implementation of integrated care pathways, including appropriate assessments/referrals and models of care. Compile and maintain effective client records in accordance with ABL Health policies, procedures and standards. Participate in the induction, training or education of a variety of staff, students or volunteers attached to the team/service. Participate and assist in setting standards of client care based on sound research findings and evidence based practice. Undertake delegated responsibilities as agreed with the Head of Autism Services. To manage projects as delegated. Support the formulation and implementation of clinical and operational practices, and procedures as appropriate. Participate in the recruitment, selection and induction of new staff. To monitor and evaluate own clinical practice against professional standards, guidelines and policies. To advise the Head of Service of any service delivery issues. To identify the need for, and to request, new equipment, resources and assessment tools. Assist in the development of local protocols to ensure a high standard of service delivery is achieved and maintained. To engage in service development and discuss with the Head of Service. Support the process of staff participation in the formulation of new ideas/suggestions to improve client care and service delivery. Provide statistical information as required. Education and Development To provide autism awareness training for a range of audiences including families, staff and other professionals. Attend relevant and mandatory training as required. Attend professional meetings as required. Maintain knowledge of current ABL Health policy, procedures and guidance. Demonstrate the acquisition and application of knowledge in line with current research and evidence-based practice. Undertake training relevant to your role and responsibilities and promote a positive learning environment. Coordinate preceptorship and mentorship as required. Participate in regular supervision, engage in reflective practice and be committed to continued development. Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others. Research and audit Undertake and participate in appropriate audit, quality assurance programmes and research as directed. To identify the need for and to contribute to audit within areas of expertise. To use research methodology for specific audits.
