Based within the Physician Associate team in the School of Health and Social Care Professions, this role supports teaching and learning through the delivery of modules in conjunction with the Course Leader. Typical duties include tutorial class teaching, personal tutorial support, providing feedback to students, coursework assessment, and examination marking. You will also work toward a fee-waived PhD within the School in an area of your choosing; upon successful completion of the PhD, you will automatically be promoted to Lecturer.

Job Purpose
The role holder will:
* Teach and support students using a learner-centred approach to deliver a first-class student experience.
* Contribute as an active member of the teaching team and the wider work of the Department/School.
* Practice inclusivity and support the building of an inclusive university community.
* Work toward a fee-waived PhD within the School, leading to automatic promotion to Lecturer upon successful completion.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Act as a main point of contact for tutorial class teaching for one or more courses.
* Demonstrate enhancement activities in course delivery (e.g., blended learning).
* Design and prepare teaching materials within the overall module/course framework, including planning and delivering the curriculum using appropriate media, in conjunction with the Course Leader.
* With support, undertake associated course activities, including personal tutoring, student recruitment, assessment, review, and evaluation; prepare standard materials and questions for tutorial discussions.
* Demonstrate techniques and the use of necessary equipment.
* Provide guidance on producing work at an appropriate academic level and on preparation for examinations.
* Undertake examination marking duties.
* Mark assignments, essays, and exams using solutions provided by the Course Leader, and provide effective feedback that promotes performance improvement.
* Manage late submission of assignments and escalate to the Course Leader as required, including general administration of the tutorial process.
* Contribute to the student experience by delivering excellent customer service, as reflected in student feedback.
* Contribute to Open Days, school, college, and partnership links, and the marketing and promotional work of the Department and/or School.
* Provide pastoral care and project supervision to students.
* Engage in professional development (e.g., CPD, conferences) related to teaching, learning, and assessment.
* Maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.
* Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head/Deputy Head of School.
Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
* First degree in a relevant field.
* Commitment to working towards and achieving a teaching qualification.
Knowledge & Experience
* Adequate knowledge in discipline/field.
* Specialist skills appropriate to the courses taught.
* Excellent knowledge of MS Office software.
Skills
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all stakeholders.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Flexibility and ability to respond to changing priorities in a busy environment.
* Excellent people skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
Special Requirements
* Willingness and ability to work in off-site locations.
* Willingness and ability to contribute to University Open Days (which may fall on Saturdays).
