Overview
Downing Drive Surgery is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join their workforce and work approximately 14 hours per week. Salary: £16 to £18 per hour depending on experience. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part-time.
Job Responsibilities
* Develop and manage a medicines management plan and deliver patient services as determined by practice policy and local and national guidance.
* Support the medicines management team to maximise cost-effective prescribing and improve the quality of patient care.
* Work independently and manage your own workload under the direction of the Practices; liaise with patients, primary care staff, community pharmacists and other partners with excellent communication skills.
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting safe, effective, and efficient medicines management within the practice. This includes completing medicines reconciliation from hospital discharges, outpatient correspondence, and new patient registrations, ensuring accurate and up-to-date medication records and appropriate long-term condition recalls. The role includes managing repeat prescriptions and medication queries in line with legal and practice requirements, triaging requests via internal systems including Accurx and SCA processes, and providing medicines information to patients within scope. They may deliver vaccinations under approved PGDs, maintain accurate clinical records, and contribute to medicines audits, MHRA safety alerts, governance, and quality improvement initiatives. Effective communication with GPs, nurses, community pharmacies, and wider healthcare providers is essential, alongside participation in relevant practice and pharmacy meetings.

Downing Drive Surgery is a well-established GP practice in Evington, Leicester (LE5 6LP), serving approximately 6,900 patients. We use SystmOne as our clinical system and allocate a named GP to every patient to ensure continuity of care. We are a GP Training Practice hosting GP Registrars and medical students, and we encourage staff to be proactive, share ideas, and participate in improvements to patient care.

Requirements
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working in a pharmacy or healthcare environment; experience with IT programs such as Microsoft Office and internet use.
* Desirable: Experience in a primary care/general practice environment; experience in long-term condition management and audit work; experience with GP clinical systems (SystemOne, AccuRx, Eclipse).
Qualifications
* Essential: Qualified and registered Pharmacy Technician (GPhC or relevant body); GCSEs or equivalent; Basic Life Support certificate or willingness to undertake training and maintain certification.
Knowledge & Skills
* Essential: Strong knowledge of medicines management and prescription processes; excellent IT skills; high level literacy and numeracy; discretion with sensitive information; excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
Governance & Compliance
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required.
* UK professional registration required.
