Overview
The Royal Bolton Orthopaedic Department is looking to recruit highly motivated Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our team. We are a fast-paced unit with a high turnover of patients. The team seeks people who have enthusiasm for patient care, a positive attitude, and a passion and interest in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Our department consists of a Plaster Room and Orthopaedic Clinic for both adult and paediatric patients. This provides an opportunity to learn casting/plastering, bracing and complex wound care for hospital and community patients. There is excellent scope to progress, develop and further your clinical skills in a highly specialised unit. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary, professional team to assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care.
Key responsibilities
* Provide direct and indirect care at a high level for patients in Fracture/Orthopaedic/Paediatric Clinics, Wards/Theatres and other areas of the Trust.
* Work within plaster room and clinic areas; understand and treat orthopaedic injuries and conditions.
* Perform duties necessary to ensure a comprehensive provision of service in a varied role requiring an organised approach, attention to detail and proficient communication and administration.
* Contribute to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a busy, dynamic environment where workload is both face-to-face and virtual.
* Be part of a team that supports patients, relatives, and other MDT members and promote excellent standards of care.
* Attend ED, Wards and Theatres as required by the department.
Training and development
This is a training role with an expectation and commitment to undertake the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Casting Certificate after twelve months of training. The successful candidate will be expected to work towards attaining this certificate.
Qualifications and requirements
* Registered nurse (Band 5) with a minimum of two years post-registration experience.
* Excellent communication skills and a passion for role and improving patient care.
* Willingness to work across different areas of the Orthopaedic Department, including paediatric patients (training will be given).
* Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
* Support for patients, relatives and other MDT members; commitment to patient-centred care.

The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department are looking to recruit two registered adult nurses. A minimum of two years post-registration experience is required. The successful candidate will be expected to work towards attaining the BOA Casting Certificate after twelve months training. The department may include work in paediatric areas; training will be provided. The post holder should be able to work in all areas of the Orthopaedic Department and the post involves duties across Fracture/Orthopaedic/Paediatric Clinics, Wards/Theatres and other areas of the Trust.
