The assistant driller will play a crucial role in supporting projects through fieldwork and data collection activities across the UK. Working closely with a lead driller and senior staff members, this position involves conducting field investigations, leading/assisting drilling operations, collecting environmental samples, and assisting in the analysis of data to ensure compliance with UK regulatory standards. The technician also supports environmental monitoring, remediation activities, and report preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Field Investigations: Assisting a lead driller in operating windowless sampling drill rigs and a rotary drill rig. Conducting comprehensive field investigations to assess environmental conditions, including soil and groundwater sampling, and installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
2. Data Collection and Analysis: Collecting geotechnical and environmental samples and data according to project specifications and UK regulatory requirements.
3. Environmental Monitoring: Supporting the setup and maintenance of environmental monitoring equipment and instrumentation. Conducting routine monitoring activities to evaluate environmental conditions and track changes over time.
4. Health and Safety Compliance: Adhering strictly to company health and safety policies and UK regulations. Participating in safety meetings, training sessions, and hazard assessments to maintain a safe work environment.
5. Client Interaction: Interacting professionally with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies as required in the UK context. Providing support during client meetings / site visits.
Qualifications:
* Previous experience in environmental consulting or a related field in the UK is a bonus but not essential
* Familiarity with field sampling techniques, environmental monitoring equipment, and laboratory procedures is a bonus but not essential
* Strong attention to detail and accurate data collection skills in field settings.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
* Willingness to travel and work outdoors in various weather conditions across the UK.
* Certifications such as NVQ in Land Drilling, CSCS card, Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) would be beneficial
* Valid UK driving license with a clean driving record.
