We are Looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Transport Administrator to join our dynamic transport team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our transport department while ensuring compliance with all transport regulations. This position is ideal for someone with excellent administration skills and a solid understanding of the road transport industry.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinate daily transport operations, including driver schedules, vehicle allocation, and routing of vehicles (1x arctic, 1x 18 tonne, 2x 7.5 tonne and 15 Luton vans)
* Liaising with customers with regards to booking in of deliveries – 48 hours in advance.
* Being aware of customer limitations – vehicle sizes, times of delivery etc
* Reviewing forward orders to ensure that we are grouping orders wherever possible
* Performing regular checks on the transport planning board to ensure any missed deliveries are re-planned.
* Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations, including the maintenance of transport documentation such as driver hours, vehicle maintenance logs, and tachographs in line with CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) requirements.
* Act as a point of contact for drivers, providing them with support and information regarding schedules, routes, and compliance queries.
* ·Ensure that all transport activities adhere to company health and safety policies and proactively identify and report any risks or issues.
* Assist in commercial areas including monitoring fuel costs, and optimising routes to improve cost-efficiency.
* Identify areas for process improvement within the transport department and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
* Updating of driver paperwork based upon stock availability
* Supporting with general admin within the transport team including uploading of orders to our third-party couriers.
* Scanning and attaching PODs
* Liaise with internal teams and external customers to provide accurate updates on delivery schedules and address any issues that may arise.
Requirements:
* A valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Transport Management is advantageous but not essential
* Previous experience in transport administration/planning, logistics, or fleet management is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of transport legislation, including driver hours, tachographs, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
* Proficiency in using transport management systems (Max Optra) and MS Office, especially Excel, for reporting and data analysis.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with drivers, management, and customers
* Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
* Proactive in identifying and resolving issues related to transport operations.
Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm
