IT SOX Control Analyst

RELX PLC (RELX) has registered securities under the US Securities Exchange Act 1934 and is therefore required to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act 2002 (SOX). In order to comply with SOX at RELX, responsibility for SOX implementation is delegated to the Business Areas (BAs) including Elsevier and Elsevier needs to have and maintain strong control environment, which is supported by Elsevier Controls team consisting of 8 people and covering both business and IT controls holistically
About the Role
The role is to ensure that IT controls are in place and continually optimised across Elsevier enabling us to comply with SOX.
Responsibilities
1. Perform process walkthroughs, test design and operating effectiveness of IT General Controls (ITGCs).
2. Participate in annual and iterative SOX planning and scoping activities to understand significant changes to the IT environment.
3. Assisting the business with the testing of IT Application Controls (ITACs).
4. Following up remediation actions with deficiency owners to close any deficiencies identified including re-testing.
5. Supporting monitoring and reporting of testing status and escalation of issues/deficiencies for senior management.
6. Maintaining documentation and evidence of IT controls and processes to support audit requirements through the company control tool (Archer).
7. Collaborate with SOX Accounting and IT teams to understand and document the end-to-end process, systems, automated application controls and key reports.
8. Evaluate audit findings, identify control gaps and deficiencies, and work with the SOX leadership to prepare impact assessments and remediation forms.
9. Work closely with IT and Business process owners and control owners.
10. Support SOX readiness projects impacting key financial business processes, risks, controls, and IT dependencies.
Requirements
11. Have in depth audit/assessment experience including SOX.
12. Be educated to degree-level, BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
13. Have prior experience in a technology/cloud company environment and/or implementing IT controls solutions.
14. Experience in SOX design and operating effectiveness testing with an emphasis on quality work-paper deliverables and associated audit documentation.
15. Good knowledge of applying Risk frameworks and major auditing standards (COSO).
16. Possess or working towards globally accepted credentials, such as, CISA, CIA.
17. Ability to quickly identify and communicate key risks and potential impacts.
18. Have a solid understanding of audit methodology, enterprise technology infrastructure, agile application development & maintenance, and IT architecture.
19. Have good project management skills.
20. Have the ability to multi-task, work individually and on a team with minimum supervision.
21. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills including experience working on multi-national teams.
22. Team player, with the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships across the organization and with external auditor.
