Senior Service Manager for Planned Care

As Senior Service Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership within planned care specialities, working closely with Clinical Leads, Divisional leadership, and corporate teams to deliver safe, efficient and high‑performing services.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead services that will form the redevelopment of Hillingdon Hospital as part of the New Hospital Programme (NHP).
* Drive elective recovery and RTT performance, including PTL management.
* Embed GIRFT, Faster Diagnosis, and outpatient transformation principles.
* Lead large multidisciplinary teams through change, promoting clarity, compassion and partnership with the Acute Partnership Group.
* Provide senior operational leadership across Planned Care specialities.
* Lead service delivery from strategy to day‑to‑day operations, ensuring performance against RTT, quality, finance and workforce metrics.
* Work with Clinical Leads to redesign pathways, improve productivity and optimise clinical templates.
* Lead and support teams through service transformation, including new models of care and digital change.
* Oversee PTL governance, escalation and performance reporting.
* Manage service budgets, workforce planning and risk registers.
* Ensure strong governance, patient safety and regulatory compliance.
About You
* Significant experience at Senior Service Manager/Operational Manager level within Planned Care or acute services.
* A strong track record of delivering elective recovery, RTT improvement and service transformation.
* Experience working in close partnership with clinicians and influencing at senior level.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate and develop teams through change.
* Strong analytical, financial and governance capability.
* Demonstrable operational management experience and staff‑management skills.
* Ability to analyse complex problems and develop practical solutions.
* Evidence of continuous professional development and experience of budgeting.
* Experience of managing large groups of staff and leading Trust‑wide projects.
* High level of numerical and data‑analytical skills, including spreadsheets and databases.
* Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create successful partnership working.
* Experience of participating in clinical governance initiatives.

Person Specification
* Educated to master’s level or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
* Demonstrable operational management experience within the health service, managing large groups of staff.
* Experience of effective staff management and workforce planning.
* Analytical skills and ability to develop practical solutions to complex problems.
* Well‑developed leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate teams and communicate performance expectations.
* Demonstrated achievements in managing change.
* Evidence of continuing education and development.
* Experience of managing a budget and financial oversight.
* Experience of leading Trust‑wide projects and collaborating with external partners.
* High level of numerical and data‑analytical skills, including spreadsheets and databases.
