Overview

With every community, Stantec redefines what’s possible.

We are seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our progressive, award-winning Mechanical & Electrical Engineering team in our Cardiff office as part of our 2026 Graduate Programme, delivering sustainable projects for our communities, planet, and society.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that specialises in the delivery of building services, energy, and sustainability services. We get involved early, work collaboratively with the design team, guide design development, and use our expertise to help clients make key decisions—an approach that consistently results in buildings that deliver.

As a Stantec graduate, you will collaborate with your team and wider cohort, developing your expertise within an exciting and creative interdisciplinary environment. You will benefit from strong support from both office and technical colleagues, as well as significant guidance from senior staff within our open and collaborative culture.

Application Deadline

Recruitment is ongoing. Please apply as soon as possible, as the advert may close once we have sufficient applicants.

Your Role

* Work on live projects from the start across a variety of sectors, including healthcare and education.
* Undertake mechanical services design and calculations.
* Collaborate with supervisors on scheme design concepts.
* Use Revit and 3D BIM modelling software in design production.
* Co-ordinate designs with other professional disciplines.
* Produce detailed designs and drawings.
* Contribute to or develop energy and sustainability strategies and carry out dynamic thermal modelling.
* Participate in design team and client meetings.
* Undertake site visits and surveys.
* Research and implement new technologies.
* Engage in continuous CPD and learning opportunities.

Your typical work may include heating, ventilation, air conditioning and control systems, above-ground drainage systems, and hot and cold-water services.

About You

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a degree and/or master’s qualification in a relevant mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or building services engineering subject—and a keen interest in our industry—we’d love to receive your application if you are:

* An Adapter – calm in new and changing situations, comfortable switching between a variety of dynamic tasks.
* A Perseverer – composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
* A Collaborator – effective working with different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
* A Problem-Solver – eager to share your thoughts based on what you see, unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Workplace Presence

We ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week to ensure colleagues can provide the appropriate level of support.

What We Can Offer You

* A competitive salary.
* Private medical insurance.
* A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection, and life assurance.
* Permanent employment contract, demonstrating our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec.
* Professional progression plan, supporting you to attain professional status.
* A supportive and collaborative team environment, Early Careers peer group, and wider Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
