Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million with regional and national services.
The shift pattern for this position is 5 days over 7, from 8:00-16:00 and 8:00-15:30 shifts.
We are seeking a Band 6 Charge Nurse at HMP Greenock to support the development of mental health care for inmates. The role is primarily based at Greenock but may involve movement across four prison sites as needed. The post involves delivering comprehensive mental health nursing services in collaboration with primary care and addiction practitioners within a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will:
* Operate as part of an extensive multidisciplinary team
* Undertake assessments and provide interventions to meet healthcare needs
* Contribute to the ongoing development of prison healthcare services
Qualifications and experience required include:
* First Level Registered Mental Health Nurse
* Degree-level education or equivalent
* Significant post-registration clinical experience
* Continuing professional development and relevant post-basic study
* Knowledge of legal and professional accountability, including the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and prioritize workload
* Willingness to complete Non-Medical Prescribing
* Full driving license
* Knowledge of prison healthcare needs across various areas
* On the NMC register as a V300 practitioner or working towards V300 registration
